On June 24th an Irish delegation attended at Altice Labs in Aveiro, chaired by Mr Tony Boyle, “Chairman of the Ireland Portugal Business Network”, integrating also three teachers and researchers of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), namely the Rector of the Engineering University, professor Gerald Farrell; Investigator Dr. Marek Rebow, of Engineering University; and researcher Dr. Robert Ross, of DIT Computer School (Faculty of Science).
Dublin Institute of Technology is a prestigious technological university of the Republic of Ireland, with about 20,000 students and 2,000 permanent employees, preparing to open in 2016 a completely new campus on the outskirts of Dublin, able to accomodate more than 30,000 students expected in 2020.
At the meeting in Aveiro, were presented the DIT skills and the RDI and business areas of Altice Labs, having been analyzed opportunities for collaboration in R&D projects, as well as potential business opportunities in ICT between the two countries.
It was followed with a brief visit to the campus of Altice Labs with the presentation of the latest developments in interactive TV area and network technology laboratories.
Altice Labs will analyze in greater detail, together with Mr. Tony Boyle, future opportunities for collaboration, and then proposing concrete lines of action.
