Good mood brightens charity event

Under the corporate volunteering "Mão-na-Mão" project, PT Inovação e Sistemas organized the action "Um Dia à Vela", in the premises of the Costa Nova Sailing Club.

This initiative aims to provide to a group of underprivileged children, that are under the purview of various institutions in Aveiro, a different afternoon in the outdoors.

In the 2014 edition, which took place on 9 July, there were present 60 children from four institutions, namely the "Centro de Emergência Infantil da Caritas", "CASCI", "Obra da Criança de Ílhavo" and "Fundação Padre Félix".

It were prepared several activities, including a moliceiro ride (a typical Aveiro's boat). Children between 5 and 15 years enjoy a different and fun afternoon, accompanied by 17 volunteers from PT Inovação e Sistemas, PT and Delta.

At the end of the event, was served a snack and distributed souvenirs for all children.

About the "Mão-na-Mão" project

The "Mão-na-Mão" is a corporate volunteer movement that aims to contribute to the consolidation of a culture of solidarity and social responsibility.

It promotes volunteering initiatives in a business context, focusing primarily on the inclusion of groups with special needs. It relies on partnerships with s private institutions of social solidarity, as well hospitals and educational institutions, which operate in area of ​​inclusion and social emergence.

Coordinated by the PT Foundation, the "Mão-na-Mão" currently has participation, availability and commitment of the following companies: Administração dos Portos de Leixões, BNP Paribas, Cisco Systems Portugal, INOV INESC, Jason Associates, Loviril, Novadelta, Prosegur, PT Comunicações, PT Contact, PT Inovação, PT PRO, PT Sistemas de Informação, Sacoor Brothers, SAS, TMN, Xerox Portugal, Ericsson e Totemic.

To date, the "Mão-na-Mão" project has involved 5,130 volunteers in 90 actions that supported more than 155 thousand beneficiaries.
