ADEL’s Project Meeting
10/08/2016 ADEL / 5G
On the 18th and 19th July, a meeting took place at Altice Labs in the context of ADEL – Advanced Dynamic Spectrum 5G mobile networks employing Licensed Shared Access (LSA), an european research project.
The limitation of spectrum availability in bands favourable to mobile communications is the main constraint to the new 5G networks development. In this context, ADEL researches radioelectric spectrum usage optimization solutions, in other words, a higher availability of spectrum based on licensed sharing.
Altice Labs’ mission in the project is mainly the design of the system’s architecture which supports the dynamic spectrum attribution and ensures the QoS of the licensed and incumbent, radio resources management algorithms and the specification of a solution that, based on the RRC(LTE) protocol, supplies “sensing” information essential to the optimization of resources attribution in shared bands.
According to Álvaro Gomes, from Altice Labs’ Innovation and Technological Coordination Direction, “in this meeting it was possible to define, together, the specifications of the future LSA technology demonstrators which are expected to be extremely relevant to the sharing and spectrum in the 5G networks context”.
