Web mapping - build, save and share your own map

Context

It is intended to provide the Netwin solutions with the ability for users to build their own thematic visions of georeferenced maps, choosing the sources of information, its organization and forms of rendering, with the ability to record and share these maps.

Project objectives

The Netwin product through the Outside Plant module (OSP) provides a geographic information system (GIS) based on the paradigm web mapping using librarias and open source components, both client side (browser) and server-side. Allows the construction and georrefenciada form of visualization of infrastructure, equipment and cables of an external telecommunications network.
Today organizations have access to multiple data sources of various formats, whether internal (from different departments / areas, for example) or external, but do not have the tools to choose and integrate a GIS those that interest to a view specific to a particular context, and the ability to share this view.
This project aims to enable an organization to create maps from various sources of information to choose from, so you can build different thematic visions according to usage and context needs profiles. It is intended in an embedded solution paradigm "" create your own map "," maintaining the current philosophy of using open source software and respecting the OGC standards for services in this area. The various maps created should be able to be shared and carrying accessed by other users. one feramenta for the management of maps that enable the creation, editing, deletion and map existing research is needed.
The solution will have to address in addition to the obvious issues of formats of information sources, issues related to:

• Definition, by the user, the rendering of geographical features (colors, symbols, line types, fills, etc ...).
• Definition of the labels associated with each features.
• Organizing information (map layers, layer groups, display order, opacity, active / inactive).
• Definition and construction of menus and toolbars to the basic features of pan, zoom, measuring distances and areas, query features.
• Map Print.
• Scale and coordinates.
• Access to the attributes of features (when the source format allows) by layer or multilayer.
• Selection of attributes.
• The possibility of building based on these data reports, either directly or by allowing the exchange of data between different types of features.

Key skills required

• Javascript, Java, database modeling.
• Knowledge of javascript libraries for web mapping (openlayers, leaflet). GIS engines like Geoserver/Mapserver. Standards OGC, particullary the services WMS, WFS and SLD specification.
