Smartwatch app for MEO STB remote control and beyond

Context

With the rapid growth of the wearables market, there is an opportunity to identify potential applications to enable user perform everyday activities in an easy and intuitive way.
This project aims to prototype a smartwatch application that interacts with the MEO STB as remote control, allowing a set of actions such as changing channels, browsing Now & Next information, schedule recordings, watching TV on the smartwatch and launching STB applications.

Project objectives

• Research and development of a smartwatch application for remote controlling MEO IPTV STB.
• Study of the communication protocol to send keys to the MEO STB.
• Integration of services to get information and perform operations on the STB.
• Study of video streaming integration in smartwatch.
• Development of application prototype for smartwatch (Xcode / iOS SDK).

Key skills required

• iOS development.
• Web Services / REST.
• Basic knowledge of usability / interaction design.
