The concepts of Cloud Computing are no longer new and today there are many commercial offers of IaaS ( Infrastructure as a Service) and PaaS (Platform as a Service). However the more traditional organizations still only now are beginning to explore and to take advantage of these concepts. Due to various reasons, it is not always possible to operate in public Clouds and in such cases the most obvious solution is to implement an internal cloud. With this approach you can take advantage of a set typical benefits of cloud environments (eg. elasticity, pay per use , resources on demand, etc.) in a controlled manner and internal to the organization fomenting more advanced practices such as continuous integration, devops, etc.
Altice Labs is implementing its internal cloud to support the entire application development activity and, in this first phase, only addressing the concept of IaaS. It is necessary to address the next stage which includes support for containers (docker), support for PaaS and support the launch of other features "as a service" such as (load balancing , elasticity, etc.), enabling the adoption of these techniques by development teams (CI / CD , automation testing and deployment, etc.).
