CI/CD: Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery

Context

SONATA-NFV H2020 project aims to develop a CI/CD platform to test, validate and instantiate software solutions developed on top of a public SDK by 3rd party partners.
This capability enables the creation and delivery of standard and innovative solutions for service and network operators, namely following the structured approach of Virtualized Network Functions (VNF’s) and Network Services (NS’s) as defined by ETSI, after being conveniently tested by the Continuous Integration and Quality Assurance engine, available in a private Catalogue containing binaries, descriptors and images, and that can be automatically deployed to certified infrastructures like Openstack or other VIM, avoiding human error and introducing quick delivery times and easy Operation.
Altice Labs is in charge of developing the automation of the Sonata Service Platform (SP) initialization, and the instantiation of resources like VNF and NS on a multi-site and multi-platform (multi-VIM) environment. z
Worth to mention that the competencies acquired on this project can easily be reused on other Altice Labs fundamental projects, like those designed as micro-services to run on containers or the application deployment automation and orchestration as well.

Project objectives

The objectives to be achieved with this stage are:

• Orchestrate the deployment of application stacks, based on TOSCA and/or HOT templates (according to the principle of deploying infrastructure as code).
• Automate the deployment and maintenance of applications (VNF’s and NS’s) to manage their service life-cycle (SLM).
• Acquire know-how on Container management and cluster of containers, namely Docker Swarm, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes.
• Acquire know-how on the principal VIM (Openstack) and its upgrade.

Key skills required

Candidates should have the following technical profile:

• Student finalist master (5 years) with solid training in Eng. Computer.
• Knowledge of YAML programming languages, namly Ansible.
• Knowledge of template based languages, including HOT and TOSCA.
• Knowledge of high level languages programming, preferably Python.

Candidates must have the following individual profile:

• Adaptability and motivation to accept new challenges.
• Assertiveness in discussion of concepts, architectures and technologies.
• Autonomous time management.
• Domain of English language, as a fundamental requirement for collaboration in European projects.
