The trainee will be integrated in the AGORA development team, ALB’s Management and Control solution for ALB’s network devices.
The proposed project envisages the research, integration and development of a new components and processes for configuration, auditing, maintenance and monitoring/diagnostic in a new administration application for the AGORA solution. This application will simplify the management of the AGORA’s applications and servers.
The proposed Project is part of the Connectivity working group activities, where complete solutions for access, aggregation and transport networks are developped, starting with PCB design up to the centralized management & operations platforms. ALB is actively developing the NG-PON2 technology being a pioneer in the industry.
AGORA is the centralized network management suite for our entire network devices portfolio. At its core the Resource Manager provides a centralized control of all existing resources on each managed device. A set of other applications add specific functions to the solution such as Alarm monitoring, Reporting, scheduling, high level provisioning and monitoring, etc. AGORA can run distributed over several servers, either physical dedicated servers or over virtual machines and requires an external database for the persistence and consistency of all its data. The deployment of AGORA requires not only the existence of the abovementioned applications but also the ability to easily install, monitor and maintain the running environment of processes and servers. The complexity of such maintenance activities must be simplified through proper administration tools, to reduce the level of expertise required and to allow for third party independence over the installation and management of AGORA. The purpose of this project is to study the relevant SW and HW metrics and the mechanisms and tools to obtain them, and to design and develop all the identified processes and applications necessary for a complete and independent management of the servers and SW themselves.
