On the 16th April, the "Future Cities" conference was held by the EY consultant at the Solar do Vinho do Dão, in Viseu, where the digital implications for portuguese cities and how they are preparing to face the technology challenges were topics under discussion.

Viseu was the historic city chosen to think about the present and to design the future of Intelligent Cities, allowing everyone present at the conference to share their expectations about the digital transformation and the impact that its evolution may have in the future, changing the way we consume goods, work and live in the cities.

For a city to be titled City of the Future it should be motivated to be able to use the technology to optimize its services and have strategies that allow leveraging the digital era to establish a proximity to the citizen.

Altice Labs was present with the participation of Alcino Lavrador on the theme "The role of Infrastructure and data in the development of the territory". Some of his visions and expectations of the evolution of cities were shared and discussed with other participants from major companies such as EDP Distribuição, Infraestruturas de Portugal and IBM, always stressing the need for awareness of the government and companies to the digital era in order to prepare the portuguese cities for their revolution, reinforcing the need to implement innovative strategies that are able to follow all the evolution of the digital.

The closing of the conference was attended by Luís Goes Pinheiro, assistant secretary of state and administrative modernization, with a presentation on "The role of the State in the modernization of the territory".
