Altice Labs present at Smart Cities Tour in Aveiro

The second initiative of the Smart Cities Tour 2019, with the theme "Soft mobility", organized by the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP), through the Intelligent Cities Section, was held in Aveiro on February 5, 2019, and in partnership with NOVA-IMS University.

This workshop was attended by Paulo Pereira and Isabel Borges, from the Technological Coordination and Innovation department of Altice Labs.

The main goal of the session in Aveiro was to promote the sharing of good practices between municipalities, units of the scientific system and companies from different sectors, related to the theme of Soft Mobility. The session had the presentation of ongoing projects in six portuguese cities - Aveiro, Coimbra, Vila Real, Viseu, Cascais and Águeda - and with the interventions of Altice, EDP Distribuição, CTT, Wavecom and Ubiwhere.

Paulo Pereira participated as a speaker in the panel discussion that had the theme of 'Soft Mobility and Visions of the Territory' and made a presentation entitled 'Shaping Tomorow, Building the Foundation for Smarter Mobility'.

In his speech, Paulo Pereira highlighted the importance of a strategy focused on the dynamization of data obtained from a Smart City ecosystem to foster advanced mobility scenarios based on the interception of multiple potential sources of information. This strategy is one of the pillars of the portfolio that Altice Labs is building for a new 3rd generation IoT solution, with the new Dataplaxe solution addressing the Data Management and Analytics component, to which CityGw, the new gateway multi-technology for integration of sensors at the edge of the network, and which together will allow the development of specific applications for the various domains of operation, including mobility.

During the SC Tour were demonstrated in the stand of Altice Labs different works developed in the scope of participation in Research and Innovation projects. It is noteworthy the demonstration of the City Governance Center that allows the visualization of data of the city, the parameterization of rules and performance in the different infrastructures of the urban space, in order to promote a management of the urban space based on knowledge. It was also presented the mobile application born in the Sharing Cities project that aims to promote the creation of healthy habits of the population using the concepts of gamification and social market, in order to create a city more environmentally friendly.

In a Urban Safari, the delegation traveled to the campus of Altice Labs in electric bus, to visualize in loco the latest technological developments in the area of ​​Mobility Analytics, and Parking Management, presented by Luís Cortesão and Manuel Dinis from Altice Labs. Optical laboratories, prototype development, climate testing, the Museum and Future Labs were also visited.
